Prada Totes - Fall/Winter 2008/09
One of my favorite movies of all time is the Devil Wears Prada, for many reasons including the fabulous actresses involved (Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep), the outrageous sense of humor as well as the intensity in the workforce. Oh! And did I mention fashion?
Prada is a high end Italian fashion label that specializes in designing clothing for men and women. It originated as a leather goods shop in Milan, in 1913 by a man by the name of Mario Prada. In 1978, Miuccia Prada (Mario’s granddaughter) took over the business and transformed it into the luxury brand name it is known for today.
Some interesting tidbits in:
- 1978 Miuccia released her first line of backpacks and totes made from the same sturdy canvas her grandfather used to make the steamer trunks
- 1984 a nylon tote and new shoe line were introduced
- 1985 the classic Prada handbag was introduced creating an overnight excitement
- 1989 Prada introduced their women’s ready to wear line which led them to be known for their basic colors, simplicity and sleek lines
- Miuccia called the women’s apparel uniforms; due to their popularity and appeal with the affluent working woman
House of Prada has become a significant contributor to the fashion industry. The following are four totes from their upcoming Fall/Winter 2008/09 product lines.
The elegant Crispy Nylon style is carrying into Fall/Winter 2008/09. This dimensions for the Crispy Nylon Tote are 12″ x 14.5″ x 6″. The material its made from is nylon and metal, with patent leather handles, an interior zipped pocket as well as its signature lining. The Crispy Nylon Tote can also be found in Hibiscus.
Several styles for the Tessuto line are available this Fall/Winter 2008/09, including this Tessuto Tote. A very feminine look, the dimensions for this piece are 9.5″ x 12″ x 7.2″. The material its made from is nylon and metal, an interior zipped pocket, signature lining, leather trim and shoulder straps. The Tessuto Tote can also be found in Violet.
Another favorite from the Tessuto line is the Tessuto Micro Tote with the dimensions of 12.8″ x 10″ x 5.5″. The material its made from is metal nylon, with leather handles, an interior zipped pocket as well as its signature lining.
Ombre, a popular term for this Fall and Winter, is the look you get when taking two colors and creating a gradient effect across a product. This is going to be popular in many apparel items including shoes and bags. Prada’s Patent Degrade Shopper is a beautiful example of what the Ombre effect looks like. This tote’s dimensions are 15.2″ x 15.2″ x 5.5″. The Patent Degrade Shopper can also be found in indigo/black as well as a tote and tote-bag variety.
